The photos on the left
show the current progress of Hope for Orphans and Needy
Children (HONC), a US/UN/and Uganda recognized non-profit
organization, founded and directed by our very own Sarah
Ssajjabbi, an active member here at Apostles.
There are currently four classroom structures
complete and the foundation for an additional four
classrooms are being laid. Once the structure is complete
the classrooms will be outfitted and a kitchen, water well
and sanitary facilities will be constructed.
The school provides education (K through 8) to 200
disadvantaged children who's families have been
significantly impacted by war and aids; often family's
operate as greatly extended households with little to no
means to support these orphaned children.
As a congregation, Apostles has voted to support HONC
enabling it to purchase land and develop the permanent
school structures you see in the pictures to carry out the
mission. Classrooms are currently being rented nearby.
Generous donations by members of the congregation
have assisted in providing for text books, teachers salaries
and more significantly food and clothing for the 200
students currently attending the Hope Primary School. As
little as $25/month provides for the education and nutrition
of a child.
