Remember waiting anxiously for that special letter to arrive? I remember waiting on pins and needles for another letter from Vietnam. It was a reassurance that my sweetheart was ‘okay’. I also remember that in my grandmother’s house it was tradition that we share our letter with the family. We would read it out loud and then pass the letter and envelope around so each family member could get a good look at it. It brought us closer and enabled us to be ‘one’ as a family. I know that sounds strange now, but back then a letter was a very special thing and deserved to be shared.

1 Corinthians is a letter from Paul to the church at Corinth. “Although divinely inspired, it is a real letter to real people. It is practical, presenting everyday problems confronting Christians in the world. It is helpful, supplying God’s answers to daily problems. The church at Corinth was not a perfect congregation. The experiences of Corinthians was increasingly those of present day Christians…the impact of the world’s morals and mores on church people is evident today, with political factions growing, marriages failing, sexual morality sinking, and church disorders increasing.” (from 1 Corinthians:One in Christ) This letter is a document of hope for our times. Join us as we share the reading of this letter.

The study guide we will be using is from Concordia Publishing House titled 1 Corinthians: One in Christ, by Lois M. Engfehr. Study Guides will be emailed to you, or you can request a hard copy. If we do not have your email on file, send your request to the email address listed below.
